Varyo is published by Softhouse (softhouseco.com). This page explains what data the game collects, why, who sees it, and how to delete it. Questions: info@softhouseco.com.

What we collect

Voice and chat

Voice in live rooms is sent directly between players (WebRTC) and is not recorded or stored on our servers. Voice answers in a quiz are different: they are uploaded to our server so the friend who wrote the quiz can hear and mark them, and deleted after 90 days. The microphone is used only after you grant permission.

Live room chat: the room keeps the last 50 messages in server memory while it is open, and each message (up to 280 characters, or the preset message you picked) is also written to the activity log for moderation and safety. The message text is erased after 90 days, and the log entry itself after 180 days.

To connect voice directly, your device contacts a public Google STUN server, which sees your IP address, and the players in the same call can see it too. Voice is available only to players aged 18 or over.

Text chat in rooms is available from 18, and at 13–17 when a parent has switched rooms on. Kid-safe rooms allow preset messages only, have no voice, and are named after their theme rather than a typed name.

Ads

Varyo shows ads from Google AdMob to accounts aged 18 and over only: an ad you choose to watch for coins, and a short ad after levels. The "No ads" subscription stops the ad after levels; the ads you choose for coins stay, if you want them. There are never ads for a child's or teen's account (under 18) or for someone playing as a guest, and the ads library does not start on a device until an adult account is offered an ad.

Every ad is non-personalised: your interests and your activity in other apps are not used to choose it, and the iPhone app does not ask for tracking permission. When an ad is shown, Google collects the device's advertising ID or app ID, the IP address (and from it the country and approximate location), the device type, your interactions with the ad, and crash data, to serve and measure the ad and prevent fraud, under Google's policy. In the European Union and the UK we ask for your consent first with Google's form, and you can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy. Ads are rated for most ages (PG or lower).

Who sees your data

• Other players: your display name, player ID, character and outfit, level, challenges and results.
• Google: to verify Google Play purchases, and for Google sign-in if you use it.
• Apple: to verify App Store purchases on iPhone and iPad, to learn when a subscription renews or ends, and for Sign in with Apple if you use it.
• Facebook: only if you sign in with it.
• Our email provider: to send verification and password-reset emails, and the messages to parents.
• Our hosting provider: servers and database.
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivers notifications to your device, and receives its notification token.
• Google AdMob: shows ads to accounts aged 18 and over only, with the data described under Ads above.

We do not sell your data, and the app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. It uses Google Firebase to deliver notifications, and Google AdMob for the non-personalised ads shown to adults only.

Retention

We keep your account data until you delete your account. Sessions expire on their own (access tokens after 15 minutes; device sessions after 60 days unused, 180 days at most). When you delete your account, identifying data is erased immediately; financial transactions, purchases and match results are kept linked only to an anonymous ID. Children: Varyo is for ages 13 and up

Since 3 November 2026 Varyo is a game for ages 13 and up. The first thing we ask is the birth year, before any email or sign-in.

• Under 13: no account and no guest play. The app says the game is for 13 and up, any sign-up (email, Google, Apple, Facebook or phone) is refused, and nothing is stored or sent. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it. If you are a parent and your child has an account, email info@softhouseco.com and we will delete it.
• 13 to 17: a standard account, with no parent's consent needed. Voice chat, real-money purchases and ads are for 18 and over only.
• Accounts a parent approved earlier: they keep working as before. In the parent dashboard (opened by a link sent to your email) you can at any time review and download your child's data, switch friends and rooms on or off, get a sign-in code for a new device, and revoke consent and delete the account. If the child does not sign in or play for 30 days, we delete the account, and email the parent a reminder 7 days before.

Your choices

You can edit your name in the game, delete your account from My account → Delete account, or email info@softhouseco.com from your account email to request a copy or deletion of your data. A child's parent does all of this in the parent dashboard.
